C2 German course - Expert - Competent use of language
The intensive course at C2 level is mainly intended for people who wish to continue working on their language skills out of their own interest. A C2 certificate is rarely required by official authorities or employers.
Requirements
The C2 course follows on from the C1 intensive course at our educational institution. If you are not sure whether you can take the C1 course, we recommend that you take a free placement test before enrolling at our educational institution so that you take the right course. We are also happy to fill in any gaps in your knowledge that may exist. For example, if your C1 course was taken some time ago, our teachers will be happy to help you brush up on what you have already learned. An open atmosphere, where questions can be asked, is especially important to us.
If you would like to take part in the C2 course, you should already have a very high level of proficiency in the language. It should be no problem for you to follow a conversation between native speakers and to respond spontaneously and fluently to what is being said. You should already have a large vocabulary, be able to use a wide range of text genres with confidence and understand even complex, long texts that you are not familiar with. If you can already grasp implicit meanings and jokes of your fellow human beings and feel that you are confident and flexible in your expression, you may consider a C2 course.
Course structure & Our methodology
The aim of the C2 Intensive Course is to enable you to understand with ease virtually everything you hear or read. You can express information from a wide variety of sources in a well-structured way both orally and in writing. You can express yourself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, and you can make subtle differences in meaning clear. Basically, you are at a native speaker level, which means that you can deal flexibly with different audiences and use the language clearly and effectively. For example, you are able to express your personality authentically with your language and choice of words when dealing with people you do not know well or during a job interview.
Language level at the end of the course
After successfully completing the course, you will be able to write captivating stories and adapt your style to the genre you have chosen. You will also be able to critically evaluate literarily demanding and abstract texts and produce even complex, well-structured texts. You are also able to classify and understand poetry. You can also understand allusions, implicit meanings and jokes as well as colloquial and rarely used expressions and phrases. You can understand unfamiliar content just as well as familiar content. You can also easily find connotations and associations to the various expressions in your vocabulary.
You use your repertoire of words correctly and appropriately throughout, and your grammar is always used correctly and accurately, so that your attention is no longer focused on grammar and sentence structure, but on the content of what is said and written. Your texts are free of orthographical errors and you use a variety of linguistic means to structure and link phrases. You have a large pool of modal adverbs and particles which you can use to hold long discussions, set logical accents, make differentiations, clarify misunderstandings and express yourself in a differentiated and confident manner.
Your vocabulary is about 5000 words.
Final Examination & Certificate
At the end of the course you will write an internal examination of the educational institution, which is based on the examinations of the Goethe-Institut.
You also have the option of taking a telc Deutsch C2 exam, although this is subject to additional costs. You can find more information about the telc exams on our homepage. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to pass all the listed exams.
